Thats My Font

Terms of use

This page covers using the website. It does not cover using the fonts — each of those comes with its own license, and that license is what decides what you may do with it.

The fonts are not ours

Every typeface here was made by someone else and released by them under an open-source license — usually the SIL Open Font License, sometimes the Apache License 2.0, occasionally into the public domain.

That license governs your use of the font, not these terms. Nothing on this page adds a condition to a font, and nothing on this page removes one. If something here appeared to contradict a font’s license, the license wins.

Each font’s page names its license and links to the full text. The license file is also inside every download. Our plain-English summary is there to help you understand them, but it is a summary written by us, not a legal document.

Complying with the license is your responsibility

When you download a font, meeting the terms of its license becomes your responsibility. In practice that usually means keeping the license file with the font if you pass it on to someone else, and not selling the font file by itself.

We check each font’s license before adding it and we take care to state it correctly. We cannot check what you then do with the file.

No warranty

The site and the files on it are provided as they are, with no guarantee of any kind.

We do not promise that a font file is free of defects, that it will work in your particular software, that it covers the characters or languages you need, or that the information on its page is complete. The metadata is taken from the font’s own published sources and checked, but mistakes are possible.

Test a font in your own work before relying on it. We are not liable for loss or damage arising from using the site or the files — including a print job that came out wrong, a missed deadline, or a licensing dispute with a third party.

Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Using the site sensibly

Download what you need. Please do not run automated tools that hammer the site, try to break it, or attempt to interfere with other visitors.

The site’s own design, wording and code belong to us. The fonts do not, and the descriptions of them are ours. You are welcome to link to any page here.

Advertising and outside links

The site carries advertising from third-party networks and links out to designers’ own websites and repositories. We do not control what is on the other end of those, and including a link is not an endorsement. How advertising affects your privacy is covered on the privacy page.

Reporting a licensing problem

If a font here is misattributed, has the wrong license listed, or should not be distributed at all, we want to know. This matters more to us than the traffic the page brings.

Write to [CONTACT EMAIL] with the font name and what is wrong, or use the takedown page, which lists exactly what to include. A font whose license is genuinely in doubt is removed first and discussed afterwards.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the site changes. Continuing to use the site means the current version applies. Fonts you have already downloaded are unaffected — those are governed by their own licenses, which cannot be revoked.
